With health consciousness enjoying unprecedented popularity, people are increasingly looking for nutrient-dense foods that will leave them satiated without piling on the extra calories. Bread dipping, a delicious, low-calorie, easy-to-prepare Italian appetizer is synonymous with that healthiest of all diets; the Mediterranean diet. All you need to do is take a freshly baked loaf of bread, slice it and serve it with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil that has been blended together in a dish. For extra flavor and zest, blend in a dash of assorted spices and herbs.

Focaccia, sourdough and ciabatta, all of which are easily available at any bakery or local deli, taste great with bread dipping. On a freezing cold winter’s night however, nothing goes better with bread dipping than a warm French baguette loaf.
